Cherry blossom is one of my favorite fragrances. I remember back when one of my favorite beauty supply stores decided to discontinue the fragrance, I ran out and bought their cherry blossom lotion in bulk! Quick truth: I would mix their lotion with Nivea or vaseline to increase the emollient feel. This was back before I started making my own lotions and realized that I could include all the emollients I wanted and needed in order to create the best lotion for myself.
Nowadays, I make my own cherry blossom lotion and include shea butter, castor oil, and mango butter. All skin loving ingredients that are great for the skin any time of the year. This cherry blossom scented lotion offers moisture that not only quickly absorbs into the skin but also helps to keep the skin moisturized throughout the day. Amyris essential oil is also added to help provide a more woodsy and grounding scent to the cherry blossom.
Quick breakdown of the key ingredients:
Shea Butter: Moisturizing and incredibly nourishing for the skin. Full of natural vitamins and fatty acids that helps to protect the skin’s natural oils.
Castor Oil: Castor oil was chosen for this particular lotion for its humectant properties. Castor oil helps to draw moisture from the air to the skin the keep the skin moisturized longer. Castor oil also contains triglycerides which help to maintain moisture in the skin.
Mango Butter: Mango butter is rich in Vitamin A and C, palmitic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid which helps to promote glowing and revitalized skin.

I absolutely love working with Peppermint essential oil. This powerful, sweet smelling oil, with all of it’s uses and benefits, is a naturally occurring plant-based substance, that reminds me on a constant basis of the abundant resources of Mother Nature.
Peppermint oil takes me back to my childhood, around the holidays, with the minty sweet candy canes hanging from the Christmas tree as part of decoration. Or the way it adds a mint fresh sweet fragrance to an already sweet sugar cookie. I’ve met several people who use peppermint to help alleviate their headaches. It just works on so many levels.
Now that it’s flu season, I’ve been using peppermint oil with menthol in my Soothing Coconut Menthol Salve recipe to support the feeling of opening up my sinuses. My boyfriend also loves this salve and feels that it has helped him as he as been stuffy lately. This is not a cure or a remedy. But I do love the sinus relief it provides. I also use peppermint to help soothe dry cracked feet after a long day. When I apply this peppermint foot cream to my
feet before bed, I place a sock over them and in the morning my feet feel revived, and are soft and moisturized. I’ve gifted them to members of my family because I saw the wonders that it did for my feet, especially after a lengthy night shift. They love it. Not to mention it helps soften callouses as well. It’s my go to foot cream recipe because of all the good it does.
Order a peppermint foot cream or salve at The Loving Essence. I know you all will fall in love with these salves, foot creams, and more as well.
Natural skin care products (and making skin care stuff) has been a personal love of mine for years. I remember when I had a severe bout of contact dermatitis around the nape of my neck and behind my ears in my sophomore and junior year of college. Steroid creams failed to do the trick. It was during that time that I really began to take a look at what I put on my skin.
In the very early stages of my skin care journey, I would utilized various skin loving oils and butters for the unique benefits that they had on my skin. Because different products have different effects, I would often use one oil and butter in the morning and another oil or butter in the afternoon. This evolved into finding ways to combine each product to get the best possible results from these ingredients with ease of use and improved effect.
Through research, trial and error, I have learned, and continue to learn, how to make healthier skin nurturing products for use. I enjoy sharing these products with others and it always makes my day when I hear and see another person celebrate the skin they are in. In that moment, I can truly see the loving essence in that individual as they are more confident and appreciative of their authentic beauty.
